Consumer Tip for July 2008
Recycling Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs
Compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs have become popular as a way to save energy and money. However, many consumers have been reluctant to use them because of uncertainty in how to dispose of them properly. Recently, Home Depot announced it will recycle CFL bulbs for free at all of its nearly 2,000 stores.
For more information on CFL bulb recycling options in your area, contact your local solid waste or recycling agency. You can also call the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection’s Recycling Hotline at 1-800-346-4242.
