Consumer Tip for June 2006 thru August 2006
Lower Summer Electric Use
Many of the same things you do in winter to block cold air leaks can help keep the heat out in summer. Check caulking and weather stripping to make sure it is still placed properly. Closing blinds or draperies will block the heat of the sunlight through your windows and will keep the room cooler. Keep your air conditioners serviced and their filters clean. Try setting your air conditioning for a temperature that’s just comfortable for you. Don’t keep it so cool you have to wear a sweater to stay warm. If you will be out of the house for several hours, try raising the temperature a little while you are away. You can always turn it back down when you get home.
