Consumer Tip for March 2005

Lead Facts and Tap Water Quality

Drinking water from the tap can be a contributing source of lead exposure, but it is not the only source.  Your water company distributes information each year on lead and other water contaminants. The American Water Works Association has a great amount of information about lead and other water quality issues on its website.

The Environmental Protection Agency also gives details to avoid consuming lead through your home tap water,  gives suggestions on how to have your water tested and explains what to look for in purchasing filtering devices.

Check the links below to find out how you can prevent receiving too much lead from your water supply and how to monitor the quality of your water.
